Looking for a role where you can make a real difference in water and wastewater infrastructure? A respected engineering consultancy is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineer to join its Water Services team in the Kansas City, MO area. You’ll work alongside a friendly, experienced team across multiple offices, delivering high-quality projects for municipal and industrial clients and helping improve the systems people depend on every day.

About the Role

You’ll oversee water and wastewater projects from initial planning and concept development through design, permitting, and construction. You’ll support the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure, including treatment, distribution, and collection systems. The role calls for confident leadership, strong client engagement, and the ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support project delivery across all stages, from planning and design through to construction.
  • Coach and develop junior engineers while maintaining programme and budget control.
  • Produce clear, accurate project documentation aligned with scope and internal quality requirements.
  • Undertake technical studies, coordinate with subconsultants, and contribute to reports, analysis and recommendations.
  • Engage directly with clients to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions, building long-term relationships.
  • Support client engagement and business development activities to help expand the team’s local presence and impact.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Chemical, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in any state (or ability to obtain licensure in Kansas or Missouri within 90 days of hire).
  • 5+ years of experience in water and/or wastewater design.
  • Experience managing water and wastewater projects (project management responsibilities).
  • Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Confidence preparing client presentations, technical memoranda, detailed reports, and construction contract documents.
  • Proactive attitude and interest in contributing within a dynamic, employee-owned environment.
  • Active involvement in professional societies.
