We’re working with a nationally recognized design and engineering practice looking for a Civil Engineering Manager to lead and grow their presence across the Northeast region. This is a high-visibility leadership role with real influence — commercially, operationally, and technically.
You’ll be leading people, driving client relationships, overseeing project delivery, and helping shape the direction of a growing civil engineering group.
This isn’t a back-office leadership seat. It’s for someone who likes being in the room where decisions happen.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Leading civil engineering operations across a growing regional team
- Driving business development and expanding client relationships
- Managing profitability, forecasting, staffing, and overall group performance
- Overseeing land development projects from proposal through delivery
- Supporting and mentoring Project Managers and engineering staff
- Representing projects at planning meetings, hearings, and client presentations
- Recruiting and building out a high-performing team
- Working closely with leadership on strategic growth initiatives
The Background That Makes Sense Here
- 10+ years within civil engineering, ideally focused on land development
- PE license required
- Prior experience operating at PM, Senior PM, or team leadership level
- Strong commercial awareness and client-facing confidence
- Experience growing accounts and winning work
- Comfortable balancing technical delivery with operational leadership
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
The Kind of Person Who’ll Do Well
You probably:
- think beyond just project delivery
- understand the politics and pressure behind development work
- can lead a room without forcing it
- know how to mentor younger engineers without micromanaging
- enjoy building teams as much as building projects
Why This Role Is Different
The platform is already established. The reputation is there. The project pipeline exists.
What they need now is leadership that can elevate the group commercially and operationally — someone who sees the bigger picture and wants the autonomy to make an impact.
You’ll have the backing of a multidisciplinary organization without the feeling of being boxed into layers of red tape.
