We’re working with a growing civil contractor looking to add a Junior Estimator to their preconstruction team. This is an ideal opportunity for someone early in their career who wants hands-on exposure to large-scale infrastructure and civil construction work while learning directly from experienced estimators and operations leaders.

You’ll support the estimating team through all phases of the bid process while building the technical and commercial skills needed to grow into a long-term estimating career.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

• Assisting with the preparation of project estimates, bid packages, and proposals
• Completing quantity takeoffs from plans and specifications
• Coordinating subcontractor and supplier pricing requests
• Organizing bid documents, estimating files, and pricing information
• Supporting senior estimators during bid closings and final submissions
• Reviewing drawings and contract documents to understand project scope and requirements
• Participating in pre-bid meetings and occasional site visits
• Assisting with value engineering ideas and cost-saving initiatives
• Collaborating with project managers, vendors, and field teams throughout the estimating process
• Maintaining historical pricing and project cost data
• Learning company estimating procedures, systems, and best practices

 

What They’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
• 1–3 years of estimating, construction, or internship experience preferred
• Strong numerical, analytical, and organizational abilities
• Ability to interpret construction plans and specifications
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
• Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Motivated to learn and build a long-term career within heavy civil construction

 

Technical Skills

Experience with the following software is beneficial:

• Microsoft Office Suite
• HCSS HeavyBid or similar estimating platforms
• Bluebeam or digital takeoff software
• Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project
