A respected multidisciplinary engineering firm in Virginia is seeking a talented Land Development Engineer to join its growing site development team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of commercial, residential, and municipal projects while collaborating with experienced engineers, planners, and designers.

About the Role

The Land Development Engineer will support and lead design tasks related to site layout, grading, stormwater management, utilities, erosion and sediment control, permitting, and coordination with review agencies. The position provides opportunities for increased responsibility, client interaction, and project ownership as skills develop.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review site development plans and construction documents

  • Develop grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility, and roadway designs

  • Produce technical reports, studies, and permit packages

  • Coordinate with internal project teams, clients, and regulatory agencies

  • Assist with project schedules, task management, and quality control

  • Support senior engineers and project managers on multidisciplinary projects

Qualifications

  • 4–10 years of land development or site civil engineering experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification; PE license or ability to obtain preferred

  • Experience with site design software (e.g., Civil 3D or equivalent)

  • Strong understanding of Virginia site development regulations and permitting

  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with stormwater modeling tools and drainage design

  • Familiarity with local jurisdictional permitting processes

  • Ability to manage tasks independently and support multiple projects
