An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a leading contractor delivering major infrastructure projects in the water sector. This is a permanent role based in Derby, offering flexible hybrid working and a strong pathway for long-term career growth.
Reporting directly to the Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will either oversee the commercial management of smaller standalone projects or take on key accounts within larger, high-value frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare applications for payment, valuations, and cost-value reconciliations
- Manage project costs and cash flow through forecasting, monthly reporting, and cost control
- Lead procurement and management of subcontractor and supplier packages
- Support risk, opportunity, and value management initiatives
- Provide contract administration support, ideally with experience of NEC forms of contract
- Ensure all project documentation is accurate and up to date
- Act as a key liaison with clients, site teams, and subcontractors
- Offer sound commercial and contractual advice to internal stakeholders
- Proactively identify and escalate any safety or risk concerns
Requirements:
Essential:
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
- MRICS or working towards APC accreditation
- Previous experience with a main contractor on infrastructure or civils projects
Desirable:
- Background in the water industry
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts
